Anahita Modarresi is an Iranian composer living in Germany. She was born in September 1985 in Isfahan, one of Iran's most historically and culturally important cities. As part of an academic family, Anahita specialized in mathematics and physics at school, although she always had a passion for art, which she first expressed through poetry and painting. After graduating from high school, she studied makeup artistry while simultaneously completing her poetry collection "Diazepam Dreams," which received widespread acclaim through her blog.
In addition to her university studies, classical singing lessons, harp playing, and further education in music theory and solfeggio occupied most of her early adult life. She later became a member of the Tehran Choir and released her first songs under the name Erato in Iran. Although she didn't realize it at the time, this would be a major step in her career as a composer.
April 2014 was one of the darkest moments of her life. Lost in gloomy thoughts, amid disappointment and grief, she weighed life and death. One day, as she sat at the piano, the sounds of the moment and the harmonies of her grief solidified. The result was the music for the album "Parallel Lives," which earned her the title of "Distinguished Musician and Honorable Mention" at the 2014 IBLA Grand Prize Composition Competition. Based on this award, Anahita decided to return to university to pursue a Master's degree in Composition.
Anahita Modarresi recorded her first album, "Parallel Lives," in 2014, and the piece "Stella" won third prize in the Alvarez Chamber Orchestra Composition Competition. After moving to Germany in 2015, she began working on her second album. In 2016, she was awarded "Most Distinguished Musician" for her piece "Katja Is Passing Away" at the IBLA Grand Prize Composition Competition. At the same time, she held her first exhibition as a painter in December 2016.
Today, Anahita Modarresi lives in the beautiful town of Freinsheim, while continuing to pursue her career as a composer and collaborating with great musicians in order to soon present her compositions on stage.
