“When Blues meets Rock and they both meet the Groove” This is probably the best way to describe the sound of Andy Robson & Urban Fox. And you can hear that very clearly on the band’s new album entitled “Be Forgiving”.
And although this album on "Timezone Records" is the band's debut, they are anything but "newcomers." Quite the opposite… Featuring experienced top Berlin musicians, the band has been touring Germany for years under the motto "Rooted in Roots Music" as one of the best blues-oriented live bands in the country, thrilling thousands of blues and rock fans during this time.
However, the busy musicians never had the time to produce an album. They finally used the lockdown period to create an album. The result is a work that can undoubtedly compete with the productions of the best and most well-known German blues-rock artists like Freischlader, Diehlmann, and others. "Urban Fox" brings a unique touch to the mix.
Born in Berlin in 1977, full-blooded musician and frontman Andy Robson has always been relatively indifferent to musical trends since he began making music as a teenager in the early 90s. To this day, his style is based on the music that has touched and shaped him since his early youth: blues, blues-rock, funk, and soul...primarily played by greats of the 60s and 70s such as BB King, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, The Allman Brothers Band, and even James Brown and Stevie Wonder.
Two other guitarists who were very influential for Andy Robson's own guitar sound are Gary Moore and Warren Haynes. This can be heard both in the live shows and on the album "Be Forgiving." Fat, "dirty," yet creamy-warm, and singing guitar solos and groovy, rocking riffs that make the heart of any blues-rock fan sing. He also offers a bluesy-rock vocal style that more than does justice to a band of this style and is probably rather rare in German-speaking countries. With Chris Krauss (bass), Philipp Schmitt (drums), and Ludger Wirsig (Hammond), he also has three congenial musical partners who deliver powerful and tight grooves and an authentic blues-rock sound, undoubtedly more than just a "backing band." The exceptional keyboardist Ludger Wirsig also offers a beautiful complement to Robson's guitar solos with exciting Hammond solos.
The 10 songs on the album “Be Forgiving” impress both musically and lyrically with their depth, authenticity, power, joy of playing and pure feeling. An absolute (secret) tip for all those who like handmade music with lots of “balls” and “goosebump moments”.
