CPT. KRK & MR. SMRT

The nostalgic time travelers Cpt. Krk & Mr. Smrt navigate the endless expanses of DIY pop. Equipped with vintage drum computers, loop stations, synthesizers and guitars, their musical spaceship is on its way to explore new and old worlds of melody and emotion.

Cpt. Krk & Mr. Smrt is the Berlin-based singer/songwriter duo Florian Glässing and Tobias Ebert. Musically, they hail from the indie planetary system of Tom Liwa, Niels Frevert, Gisbert zu Knyphausen, and Die Höchste Eisenbahn, with whom Florian Glässing has previously toured. He also wrote and produced the songs for Desiree Klaeukens' critically acclaimed debut, WENN DIE NACHT DEN TAG VERDECKT, before releasing his own album, ALTE LIEBE, in 2019, which Rolling Stone called "a late classic."

After Florian Glässing and Tobias Ebert spent some time performing their own songs together, and Tobias recorded his EP KEINER with Florian, they decided to write songs together and perform as the performance project Cpt. Krk & Mr. Smrt. Krk stands for the Croatian island where Tobias loves to spend his holidays – Smrt is also Croatian and means "death." Their musical journey leads Florian and Tobias away from the introverted singer/songwriter style, and together they develop a new sound rooted in traditional songwriting, but with Warp propulsion, it ventures into new sonic universes.
