Stylistically, you don’t have to delve much into the music almanac and search for comparisons. File under Punkrock! A trio, straight songs that rarely exceed or even reach the classic 3:30 clock speed, and classic punk rock with a touch of hardcore. One is reminded of Scandinavian genre greats. The energy of a wrecking ball hits the gut with full force. And it feels good, too! Harmonies and choruses caress the soul and, despite their harsh tone, give the songs plenty of melodies and recognizable hooks.
You can hear from the album that the three Sauerland natives are comfortable on stage, and the trio knows how to captivate and enthuse their audience. A band that has fun, even genre greats like Terrorgruppe, KMPFSPRT, and John Coffey have already witnessed that after DAVY JONES, no stone has been left unturned.
After releasing the first song, "Desperation," with a video at the end of 2021, the album is now complete. Whether the band name is a nod to the Monkees' lead singer, the tentacle face from "Pirates of the Caribbean," or a synonym for the final resting place of drowned sailors—the "sailor's grave"—only the band can clarify. The artwork certainly allows for some initial conclusions.
Never quiet, always intense and powerful. An album that certainly doesn't redefine genre boundaries, but is all the more enjoyable and will surely make the summer seem a little sunnier.
