Eleanna Pitsikaki

Eleanna Pitsikaki is a qanun player and ethno-jazz musician whose debut album, "Aroma," blends Mediterranean soundscapes with contemporary jazz. Raised in Crete, she combines Byzantine music, Ottoman maqam traditions, and free improvisation into a transcultural style. Her compositions originate from the qanun and unfold into atmospheric soundscapes in collaboration with her band. Pieces like "Faraggi" and "Apoxairetismos" explore themes of nature, memory, and farewell. Beyond her artistic work, she is also a researcher and educator, focusing on the cultural significance of music. "Aroma" is an emotional journey between tradition and modernity—authentic, multifaceted, and characterized by profound sonic depth.
