FALK ZENKER

For his latest album, "Wellentanz," guitarist, composer, and sound artist Falk Zenker was inspired by dance and simultaneously created expansive music that invites you to dance, move, and dream away. His unique, virtuoso fingerstyle meets the sound aesthetic of loop-based club music, spanning downbeat, trance, funk, folk rock, and world beats.

With this production, Zenker takes his live looping art to the extreme, which he has consistently celebrated and refined on stage for 25 years as the first German acoustic guitarist in more than 1500 solo concerts to date. He coaxes unexpected percussive and sometimes electronically distorted sounds from his guitar, letting them dance together in the form of orchestral, psychedelically pulsating soundscapes. He integrates improvisational moments from recordings of various live and online performances into such loops, finely balanced in the studio, thus combining audiophile studio production with the immediacy of a concert.

The video productions for all tracks impressively demonstrate how Zenker is able to spontaneously conjure up this sophisticated sound firework on stage with his hands and feet - created exclusively in the moment with guitar, electronic effects, a loop machine and a host of atmospheric improvisations.

After a gentle opening, the tracks lead us into the archaic power of the forest, allow us to lightly unite with our shadows, move us dreamily on the waves of polyrhythmic triple beats in the title track, carry us away into a powerful autumn-golden trance, drive us once again to a pleasurable journey and finally release us with a meditative finale.

This album should be enjoyed by all those who enjoy moving to imaginative music – in real life or only in their thoughts, together or alone, for self-awareness in a dance meditation or for inspiration in everyday life.
