When you hear the name Friedel Geratsch, many people think of the Neue Deutsche Welle (New German Wave) and fun songs that, despite their lightheartedness, always carried a deeper message. Here, on his first solo album—after all, he's been playing guitar since 1964—this Ruhr area native proves that he's more multifaceted and thoughtful. This isn't a "Yeah, right" record; these songs demand to be listened to attentively, not something you can just stream in the background.
