MARKUS KEIMEL

Who is the musician Markus Keimel?

Markus Keimel is an Austrian musician, artist, writer, and journalist. He was born in 1987 in the green heart of Austria, where he began writing his first songs at the tender age of twelve and played his first concert at the Graz Orpheum at just fourteen.
Keimel describes his songs as peacemakers and soul-soothing. "Those who listen to my music should be able to immerse themselves in it and escape this world for a beautiful and weightless moment." Markus Keimel focuses on harmonious and catchy melodies, smooth sounds, and sophisticated, handcrafted music. While the singer-songwriter style provides the common thread in Keimel's soundscape, the blending of influences from various genres such as pop, rock, and jazz creates a kind of slackline on which one can comfortably balance back and forth without ever losing one's balance. Markus Keimel utilizes a wide range of instruments, ranging from guitars, bass, piano, and drums to strings and electric guitars.
"For me, every song is a separate child with equally separate needs. Because I'm very careful to listen to and respond to these needs, no two songs sound the same in the end. This variety in music is important to me," says Keimel. The lyrics are all taken from real life. They deal with special experiences, love, sorrow, worries, dreams, friendship, or other events that are dear to the singer's heart.
As a musician and singer, he has released several recordings in various genres (rock, pop, and electronic music) and has performed over 200 concerts in German-speaking countries. Keimel composes, performs, and writes all of his own songs and lyrics. He is a singer, proficient on guitar and bass, and composes for string instruments and piano. Keimel also writes and publishes aphorisms, sayings, wisdom, and texts that are now quoted daily by politicians, journalists, social media, and business circles in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
Sugar

Smooth. Optimistic. Weightless! With the brand-new track "Sugar" (July 2025), songwriter Markus Keimel releases a head-up song with a clear statement: "The message is that you should embrace life as something beautiful and that every person is as beautiful as they are by nature." The artist's motivation lies in superficial social constraints, toxic relationships, and the feeling of being left alone with one's worries. "What I want to say with Sugar is: don't let yourself be defeated, believe in yourself, and love yourself the way you are," says Keimel. Anyone who enjoys being carried away by dreamy feel-good vibes can expect a pleasantly sweetened soaring flight with "Sugar." No need to buckle up. Just close your eyes and open your mind!
Smooth, melancholic Markus Keimel operates as a one-man band, composing, writing, playing, singing, and arranging his music single-handedly. "Always with dedication, never without depth," as he puts it. The artist describes his new songs as peacemakers and soul-soothing. "Those who listen to my music should be able to immerse themselves in it and escape this world for a beautiful and weightless moment."
Marblehead

With "Marblehead," the singer celebrated his comeback in April 2025 and released a personal farewell song dedicated to his beloved cat of the same name. "Marblehead was my soulmate. With this song, I wanted to say goodbye to him one last time," Markus says of the song. Marblehead is not just a soulful ballad, but also an anthem for those whose hearts beat for felines. And a song for those who like to close their eyes as soon as the melody ensnares their heart.
