MIRIAM NETTI

Miriam Netti interprets a total of twelve pieces with a wide stylistic range - including lesser-known jazz gems such as the title song Love Is A Necessary Evil (M. Fisher/J. Segal) and How Long Has This Been Going On (George Gershwin) as well as classics such as Our Love Is Here to Stay and Someone to Watch Over Me. Moonglow in a lively medium swing version also finds its place on the album.

The recording was created in a live session at Gula Studios in Malmö, accompanied by three outstanding Swedish musicians: Johan Leijonhufvud (guitar), Johnny Aman (double bass) and Jonas Bäckman (drums).

Special highlights include Miriam Netti's original version of "I Don't Worry About a Thing" (Mose Allison) in a driving boogaloo style, as well as an atmospheric, slow-paced interpretation of "Mr. Blue" (Fleetwood) that captures the warmth and charm of the 60s. Another gem is "The Answer" by Marcos Valle – here, Miriam surprises with specially written Italian lyrics.

Love Is A Necessary Evil is deeply rooted in the jazz of the 50s and 60s and at the same time is a modern, independent work that unmistakably bears Miriam Netti's signature.
