Nähmaschinen Quartett

The Munich-based Sewing Machine Quartet stands for a distinctive sound in which saxophone and guitar intertwine in an impressive dialogue, supported by a vibrant, groovy foundation of bass and drums. At the heart of guitarist and composer Simon Harscheidt's music are catchy, memorable melodies – a clear statement that modern, instrumental jazz can also possess earworm qualities.

The band combines playful lightness with musical finesse, moving effortlessly between lyrical, dreamy moments and powerful, surprising energy. The Sewing Machine Quartet demonstrates that contemporary jazz can be both accessible and sophisticated – sometimes playful, sometimes edgy, but always precise.

The Süddeutsche Zeitung He describes it like this: “Musically, the four move […] between melodically engaging compositions and, what a pleasant surprise, the blues. […] And the way they played it, the ‘Sewing Machine Blues,’ simply commands respect. By the way: The band name alone is award-worthy!”

“[…] By embedding these influences in their own premise of ‘catchy and sophisticated at the same time’, the band creates a truly unique niche in which lyrical elements find their place alongside intricate, fragile, and intense ones.”Danube Kurir)
