On November 15, 2024, Heinz Rebellius' solo album "1990" will be released - an instrumental album, because except for one track, the work does not feature any vocals and focuses on the electric guitar as a central element.

"1990" comprises 11 tracks and is dedicated to the combination and reinterpretation of various musical styles. Rebellius draws on genres such as surf, Spaghetti Western, rock 'n' roll, blues, and ambient, blending them into a unified, often cinematic sound. The electric guitar serves as a unifying element, uniting the diverse musical influences into a coherent work.

Top tracks from the album “1990”

The opening track, "Siesta Red," skillfully blends musical influences from Spaghetti Westerns, blues, and surf. With striking guitar riffs, sweeping melodies, and dynamic rhythms, the song conjures powerful images of desert landscapes, dusty roads, and shimmering Pacific waves.

This is followed by Back To NYC, a calm, intense track that addresses the feeling of home.

Glass Sky is a reflective composition created in remembrance of the infinite suffering that wars have inflicted on humanity, past and present.

Ice Breaker, an unusual track in the style of an Alpine waltz, seems to plow through majestic mountain landscapes with icy guitar sounds, always just on the edge of the abyss. Each subsequent song on '1990' has its own backstory, contributing to the album's depth of content and dense atmosphere.

The release of '1990' comes at a time when the longing for authentic, handcrafted music has grown strongly again. The careful production of the album '1990' is also a reflection of this impression. The songs were recorded on a deliberately small number of tracks, and the unusual sound created by the electric guitar, accordion, double bass, and drums creates a great naturalness and closeness that is often lacking in today's increasingly digital and artificially generated music world. The interplay of the purist-sounding accordion with the electric guitar, which often appears in the sound aesthetics of Italo-Western or surf music, creates an interesting, captivating atmosphere. Without complex technical effects in the production, Rebellius demonstrates the diverse expressive possibilities of the electric guitar, thereby underscoring the timeless, atmospheric power of this instrument.
