Composer, sound artist, and keyboardist Rike Casper has created a first with her CD "Voices in the Air." This time, it focuses explicitly on contemporary texts. The CD will be released on June 9th. For her compositions, she selected texts by contemporary German, Icelandic, and Brazilian authors. These are not musical settings or even songs—the lyrical texts are spoken into the music. This is how her unique Muësie is created: a mix of music, sound, and text that offers a surprising approach to contemporary poetry. Rike Casper has selected 21 poems and composed electronic-acoustic music for keyboard and cello. The texts are spoken by various actors.
The single "Es wird als gegeben gesehen" (It is taken for granted) will be released on April 9. This highly topical text by Icelandic poet Linda Vilhjalmsdóttir addresses the topics of climate change, war, and the Anthropocene. Rike Casper has created powerful, dynamic music for these laconic, Cassandra-like lines.
