Four years after Bongen's debut album "Hagel Graupel Weltraumschott" (Hail Graupel Space Schott) comes the successor, which has the no less cumbersome name "Kunst (oder was mit Tiere)".
The thirteen songs tell of searching, of struggle and doubt, of growing pains, or—as in "I'm getting better"—the usual frustration with gravity. But if you're going to fall flat on your face, do it with style. And humor. It never ends in resignation. There's always a ray of hope, an idea of what things could be like.
Musically, "Kunst" oscillates between indie rock and singer/songwriter. Elements of folk, country, and blues are also incorporated. The instrumentation is accordingly diverse: accordion, mandolin, Rhodes piano, home organ, glockenspiel, harp, cajon, cabasa, bongos, shakers, triangle... – anything goes, as long as it serves the song.
