Songs by Jacques Brel with German lyrics by Eckart Breitschuh. Greg Baker on piano. Eckart Breitschuh has translated over 30 Brel songs into German in a unique yet faithful way, thus allowing German-speaking audiences to experience the emotional power of Brel's chansons directly.
Breitschuh's energetic delivery is at times flattering, at times pleading, at times cheeky, and always captivating. He sings of lust and the frustration of love, of friendship and transience, of devotion and rebellion. He takes us to the places where it hurts the most, leaving many a tear in the eyes of the audience. He is ably accompanied by Greg Baker, who brings more than 35 years of stage, studio, and musical experience as a pianist.
