How much happiness can an album actually tolerate? – Singer/songwriter Christian Falk asked himself this question while working on his debut album “Farbe & Dunkel”. The answer: Probably not too much, if it is not to be trivial or the next album by Max Giesinger. As an avid theatergoer, the Bremen resident loves dualism, the play between good and evil, happiness and misfortune, light and shadow. For “Farbe & Dunkel” it is precisely these opposites that play a key role. “My music needs time. It is not for quick pleasure,” says the 29-year-old. Christian Falk spent over a year tinkering with his songs, finding the perfect blend of contrasts. On “Farbe & Dunkel”, between ten tracks, colorful, life-affirming pop rock uncompromisingly meets deep, pain-filled melancholy and political commentary. Sometimes packaged in concrete, sometimes abstract songwriting pieces, which, on a musical level, owe their perfect finishing touches to Falk's cellist Friedemann Eich and producer Tobi Schneider. A true workaholic, Christian Falk sometimes plays up to 100 concerts of all sizes a year. His secret favorite, however, are performances in private living rooms. These have now become an integral part of his touring life and can be booked directly on his website. As on "Farbe & Dunkel," Christian Falk's life is also marked by dualisms. As a graduate industrial engineer, he could have lived what, from the outside, appears to be a sunny, secure, middle-class, stuffy life with a career in a large corporation. But to avoid slipping into the hamster wheel, Christian Falk, after a brief foray into the automotive industry, consciously decided against the corporate world and followed his heart: "Music is what makes me happy. I don't want to do anything else in my life."
