Corin Curschellas celebrates her stage anniversary with a special 4-CD box set.
Fifty years ago, Corin Curschellas performed live for the first time, already demonstrating her diverse talents. This anniversary provided the occasion for the Tourbo Music label to look back on the career of the Graubünden-based singer, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and actress and release the extraordinary retrospective "Collecziuns: Her Songs 50–1990+2010."
In 2023, Corin Curschellas is primarily known for her subtle and fresh new versions of traditional Romansh folk songs, which she has created over the past twelve years in various ensembles. These are loved by audiences and praised by the media. However, Corin Curschellas's earlier works have been somewhat forgotten, especially since those recordings have become obsolete. Therefore, the focus of the retrospective is on her own compositions from 1990 to 2010, in which she demonstrated a cosmopolitan approach both linguistically and stylistically. These songs are in dialect, German, English, French, and Romansh, recorded in studios in Graubünden, Zurich, Berlin, Vienna, Paris, London, and New York with countless musicians from Switzerland, Europe, Africa, and the USA.
The selection of pieces was made by Mathias Rüegg, the spiritus rector of the Vienna Art Orchestra, in which Corin Curschellas performed as a soloist for many years. The renowned composer and arranger has created a very personal selection, rather than a chronological or thematic one. Despite all the musical and linguistic diversity, Corin Curschellas's unmistakably clear and multifaceted voice always takes center stage. Among the 60 pieces are several unpublished solo pieces and poem settings from 2022, as well as four works composed for Corin Curschellas with the Vienna Art Orchestra. In addition to the four CDs, the box also contains two stylishly designed booklets, illustrated with numerous photos, containing all the lyrics and tributes to 26 personalities.
