Love is an ocean. And we are thrown into it, learn to swim, and get the seahorse badge. Or not. Sometimes we drown in it because we have an emotional backpack on our backs that pulls us into the depths. But sometimes we manage to throw off the backpack and feel another force gently lift us up into the light.
Florian Glässing's songs are about how that's done. His music is voluptuous and gets to the heart of the matter. It emphasizes sincerity and intimacy, fragile harmonies, and clear, poetic lyrics. Like a good poem, you discover new facets in a Glässing song even after listening to it ten times – and before you know it, he's a loyal friend you'll remember fondly.
Florian was discovered by songwriter Tom Liwa in the late 90s when he organized a concert with Liwa. Under the pretext that the announced support act (who, of course, was never requested) was unavailable, he performed as the opening act himself. The two subsequently played countless concerts together and recorded the album "Lopnor" (Normal Records, 2002), about which the intro wrote: "This is a sensational album. Period."
In 2011, Glässing met singer/songwriter Desiree Klaeukens and wrote and produced the songs for her critically acclaimed debut album, "Wenn die Nacht den Tag verdeckt" (Tapete Records, 2014). At the same time, he is now working on his own music again, releasing the EP "Wo der Schatz liegt" (Where the Treasure Lies) in 2016.
Over the last two years, he has finally produced the long-player “Alte Liebe”: ten wildly romantic songs in which he deals with futile love and wounded masculinity, dressing indie folk in jazzy-pop garments – and finally sprinkling everything with a fine pinch of Americana.
