CD with six songs plus audio book.
The "elevator of life" travels up and down in this book, in the truest sense. Friedel Geratsch's autobiographical work is a study of the Ruhr region milieu, a personal and band history, a narrative of rise and fall, great successes and serious crises. All of this is presented with the occasionally crude, ironic attitude that readers will also recognize from many of the author's song lyrics, not only for the band Geier Sturzflug, whose frontman he rose to fame in the 1980s.
Inner distance from outward glamour and a stubborn refusal to take show business seriously have brought Friedel Geratsch through the past decades relatively unscathed, as many sections of this anecdotal book attest to. They often portray stars of yesterday and today from Friedel's very own perspective. Is this book worth reading? Absolutely! Rarely does one find so much action between two covers.
But it has one side effect: If you read to the end, you'll fall in love with the dog, guaranteed!
