Ganaim's traditional Celtic folk music takes you on a musical journey through time, through the most diverse regions of Europe. With their passionate and dreamy, yet also exhilaratingly joyful music, they immerse themselves in the misty forests of Ireland, witness Scottish military leaders defeating the English crown, and dance exuberantly with radiant beauties on balmy summer evenings on the beaches of Brittany.
Their songs are traditional pieces from former Celtic settlements, handed down over many centuries. With ever-new and unique influences, these precious witnesses to our history have been passed down from generation to generation and continue to revive the events of times past.
How many people might have danced, celebrated, and dreamed to these songs before they were revisited by two artists with a love of authentic and natural music and a passion for traditional acoustic folklore? Pinto, known through the medieval folk group Versengold, is the duo's singer, guitarist, and drummer (bodhrán).
Together with Saskia on violin, the two musicians are releasing their debut album, Ceol ón Mhuileann, which translates as "The Sound of the Mill." Together with a hand-picked selection of guest musicians, they are dedicated entirely to the tradition of Celtic lore, adding new, sometimes unexpected and surprising accents to the music with their own ideas. Traditional songs are rearranged in their own individual and unique way. Familiar lyrics are blended with new melodies, lively songs are interpreted as ballads (or vice versa), and original musical compositions are added.
