GProject Blues Band - Diversified (CD)
Who is the GProject Blues Band? First of all: A band worth keeping an eye on if you like diverse, groove-driven blues. But first things first: The band's story begins in 2007, when drummer and sound engineer TomBo founded the band and won third place in the audience vote at the Maxi-DSL Band Contest in 2008. Their debut album, "Blue Shadow," was released in 2013 and immediately took first place nationally for Best Blues 1.
However, a lot has happened with the GProject Blues Band in the last two years:
The two veterans, James Ransom 'Jamie' (bass/vocals) and Michael Staudenmayer 'Staudi' (piano/vocals), are once again integral members of the band. Thomas Ott 'TomBo' (drums), the band's frontman, returned to his old hometown of Munich in 2014. Leonidas Kyriakakos has been the band's new guitarist since 2015. And then there's a new CD in the pipeline, which is expected to be at least as successful as the previous one. So, we can't wait to see what's next.
Even though the GProject Blues Band has big plans for the next few months, drummer and bandleader TomBo is taking things easy: "We're looking forward to the challenges that lie ahead. Every change also offers opportunities to make things even better;
New ideas are always good. And with Leo (guitar/vocals), we've gained a top man with a lot of experience. We're already noticing how we're growing together as a band and developing further. It's totally exciting and incredibly fun!"
No wonder, since newcomer Leo Kyriakakos has already played in several international blues-rock bands. He is a native Australian with Greek roots. After a few years in Athens and Baltimore, he now also lives in Munich. His guitar adds the finishing touches to the band. And so the audience will likely get used to him quickly, too.
Now it's all about convincing critics and fans that the quality of their debut album, "Blue Shadow," can be even higher. In the past, the GProject Blues Band impressed audiences primarily by interacting and playing together – in the truest sense of the word. Whether acoustic slide guitar or top-notch rock solos, the arrangements were perfect, and the audience appreciated them. A diverse audience, by the way, that ranged from teenagers to their parents.
The 'old' band members "Jamie" and "Staudi" are certainly optimistic about producing a cool CD with the new lineup and reveal this much: "This time we'll be playing almost exclusively our own songs. And it'll be more varied, too." Ask TomBo (drums), who was also responsible for recording, mixing, and mastering the first album in his recording studio, and he answers authentically and convincingly: "The new album "DIVERSIFIED" with 2016 songs will be released in fall 16. Blues fans can brace themselves."
The GProject Blues Band can now be seen live again in Munich clubs and at various festivals. Blues fans can look forward to it!
