The album "Electrified," recorded in 2020 with guitars from the 70s and some of it with equally old studio equipment, is a love letter to traditional electric blues. This is blues without frills and zeitgeist, a musical staple. This is the music that "electrified" guitarist and singer Greyhound George and bassist Wolfgang Schäfer back in the XNUMXs.
Countless concerts by the American originals and countless records influenced the young musicians, who picked up a bit of everything. Fortunately, there was already a vibrant blues scene in their hometown of Bielefeld, and so they quickly formed their own bands.
In Wolfgang's case, it was the "Lohmann R&B Kapelle," which still tours throughout Germany today.
George led the blues journey with "Greyhound's Washboard Band" all the way to the finals of the 2018 International Blues Challenge in Memphis. There, he received a very special honor: Muddy Waters guitarist Bob Margolin came to the stage right after his performance, shook his hand, and said, "You are a great bluesman!" George must have done something right...
The third man is drummer Detlev Schütte, originally a jazz musician but open to anything and experienced in blues through many jam sessions. With his incredibly creative and multifaceted playing, he gives the trio's sound a special, jazzy, groovy touch.
Harp player Andy Grünert, who was also with us in Memphis, can be heard as a guest on some tracks.
