Isgaard - Human (CD)

Human – human, is the simple name Isgaard gives to her eighth album, which she recorded together with her life and music partner Jens Lueck, and thus hints at the overarching theme of a great concept album.
"We live in turbulent times, which significantly influenced the album, especially considering the fragility of humanity and our planet," explains the artist. The ten songs focus on exploring humanity in all its ambivalence. "Black Swan" addresses the marginalization of difference, "Frozen Hearts" tells of a generation traumatized by the war in Syria, and "Your World Is Broken" explores the scars of a "broken" childhood.
"We often sit together and discuss what defines humanity. All the creativity, compassion, empathy, and helpfulness on the one hand, and then the desire for destruction, selfishness, ignorance, and narrow-mindedness on the other! That simply had to be expressed, just like the exploration of transience in the song "See The Leaves Falling" or in "I Couldn't Say Goodbye," which was dedicated to a deceased friend."
Musically, the album is multifaceted and exciting, consistently consistent, and characterized by a broad palette of vocal colors that Isgaard expands from album to album. Electronics meet strings (a full orchestra with real strings was overdubbed), unusual samples juxtapose striking guitars and distinctive piano passages. And the dynamic song structures take the listener on an emotional journey.
The three-parter “Borders” (almost 17 minutes long), influenced by art and progressive rock, occupies a special place on the album and is probably the furthest departure from Isgaard’s previous style.
The three-part series explores the consequences of internal and external isolation. In a world so highly technological and interconnected, solutions to problems or steps in development can only be achieved by overcoming boundaries.
