Jasmin Bayer and Davide Roberts compose together, with lyrics by Jasmin Bayer. All of their own songs, which display a variety of stylistic nuances, share a common theme: the various facets of human relationships. The title track, "Poetic License," for example, uses a sensual Latin feel to describe the attraction of someone who always finds the right words. "Together" is a tender love anthem. The ballad "All Over Again," which was written during the pandemic, is about hope and courage. The samba "Kill 'em With Kindness" serves as an all-purpose remedy for a bad mood. The blues "I Play My Cards Right" shows the unfair partner the door.
The band consists of four sensitive, full-blooded jazz musicians: Davide Roberts (arranger and musical director) on grand piano; Markus Wagner on double bass; Hajo von Hadeln on drums; and Florian Brandl on trumpet and flugelhorn. They provide the perfect framework for Jasmin Bayer's voice in this noble selection of music.
