The versatile German musician and writer Jens Böttcher, winner of the “Blue Lion” cultural award and awarded the German Record Critics’ Prize, is releasing his seventh solo album “Die Wunden und die Wunder” (The Wounds and the Wonders) on Timezone – a courageous, free-spirited, honest, unconventional and intense work that consciously disregards the usual boundaries of the singer-songwriter genre and alternately embeds Böttcher’s typically poetic lyrics in folk, chamber ballads à la Tom Waits, gospel, alternative rock and deconstructed pop.
For years, Jens Böttcher has been singing and writing in his songs and books about life as a spiritual journey, the adventures of being human, and the occasional triumphs and tragedies of all our attempts to find and hold on to love. All of this is imbued with spirituality, melancholy, hope, and humor—and, more recently, with clear words that seek to counter the current social divide with "theories of reconciliation" (his blog bore this title for a while), as well as repeated encouragement for open-hearted communication and peace-oriented content. After years of freelance work for the satirical show "Extra3" (ARD/NDR) and his own TV talk show "Tiefsehtauchen," Jens' new talk show "Lichtspielhaus" has also been available on YouTube for a while.
Böttcher's music was said to have a "therapeutic effect" in a concert review, and his penultimate novel "Mr. Storm and the Color of the Wind," in which the main character goes on a journey through the faith of humanity, was even called a "literary sensation" by journalist Andreas Malessa.
