Be it on a white flokati rug, on a dark green plush sofa from 1972, in the neon light of graffiti-soaked concrete buildings, or in the dark evening sun. Counting peas with the Berlin chansonnier has nothing to do with the grocery store chain of the same name, but is a delight for all fans of the small print, making your feet flick and your head bob. The peas are musical postcards, polished gems from the quarry of music, blooming edelweiss, very everyday without being trivial.
Pearly piano cascades, rattling percussion, and a deep voice pierce the ear. A plodding drum kit, distant sounds of accordion, double bass, and harmonium. Cellic melodies in waltz time, over-the-top electronic guitars in polka style, or simply Karl at the piano. All instruments, all voices, lyrics, and music are played, sung, composed, and composed by Karl Neukauf.
