With "The Gentle Gangster," the Manfred Fuchs Trio releases its fourth studio album – and it's a convincing one: "Many other guitarists are amazed," writes Bernd Guido Weber in the "Schwäbische Zeitung" about the solos on the ten tracks by the Allgäu musicians. Manfred Fuchs (guitar), Tiny Schmauch (bass), and Markus Kimmich (rhythm guitar) not only coax astonishingly fast-paced gypsy jazz from their instruments, but also invite the listener to dream with romantic motifs and gentle rhythms. "Melodies that touch the ear and heart, with striking virtuosity," writes Bernd Guido Weber. His conclusion: "This CD is a joy. And a good mood." Manfred Fuchs has already impressed on stage with such greats as Andreas Öberg, Wawau Adler, Robin Nolan, Ismael Reinhardt, and Diknu Schneeberger. Since 2012, the successful author of several Gypsy jazz textbooks has had his own trio, with which he performs pieces he has written himself: inspired by the father of Gypsy jazz, Django Reinhardt, but always with his own unique touch. "The Gentle Gangster" marks a premiere for the Manfred Fuchs Trio: the song "Das Scheibtruhenlied" was contributed by bassist Tiny Schmauch, and all other pieces were written by Manfred Fuchs. "The Gentle Gangster" was, of course, recorded in the Allgäu region – in the studio of Werner Walravens, who once again perfectly captures the trio's on-stage sound on record.
