Given current world events, the title of Marian Kleebaum's new album, "The World Is Schizophrenic," could hardly be more fitting. Wars, climate deniers, fake news—humanity seems to be suffering from a comprehensive loss of touch with reality.
The singer-songwriter confronts this global madness with emotionally charged piano pieces and socially critical, jazzy pop songs. Marian Kleebaum lets the sounds speak for themselves. Four of the six pieces are purely instrumental and move between dramatic depth and high!rousing playfulness. The other two titles succinctly capture what the artist has to say. No more words are needed.
