Given current world events, the title of Marian Kleebaum's new album, "The World Is Schizophrenic," could hardly be more fitting. Wars, climate deniers, fake news—humanity seems to be suffering from a comprehensive loss of touch with reality.
The singer-songwriter confronts this global madness with emotionally charged piano pieces and socially critical, jazzy pop songs. Marian Kleebaum primarily lets the music speak for itself. Four of the six tracks are purely instrumental, ranging from dramatic depth to hopeful playfulness. The other two tracks succinctly convey what the artist has to say. No further words are needed.
