Long awaited is a somewhat overused term in the world of album releases, but it's hard to avoid when describing the forthcoming album from Mark Geary, one of Ireland's finest and most humble songsmiths. It's been five years since his last studio album, and in that time Geary has been on the road extensively, building his fan base across Europe and the US, where he lived for many years. While on tour, he often develops ideas for songs and tries them out in front of new audiences, and indeed, many of the albums' songs were born and formed this way. Finely tuned to his audience's response, he can intuitively sense how a verse or idea might move and be shaped in a new direction.
Born in Dublin, he moved to New York at a young age, where he made a name for himself on the music scene, playing at the renowned Café Sin-e alongside artists like Jeff Buckley, and garnering respect and attention from both audiences and fellow artists. Time Out NY magazine said of Mark's time in New York: "His tender songs of love and defiance...recall Richard Thompson and John Lennon...one of the East Village's most beloved adopted sons."
