The Blues Vice World Champions present their second CD, "Ease My Pain." With their fresh and distinctive "American Blues – Euro Style," MvM & Bluesoul immediately captured the attention of listeners and judges at the 2013 International Blues Challenge (IBC) in Memphis. Now the 2-meter-tall giant from Rheda-Wiedenbrück is touring European stages with Bluesoul, performing the acoustic program on the mini-CD "Ease My Pain," perfectly fitting for the chilled-out summer vibe.
"Ease My Pain" was, of course, like its previous CD "New Road", created entirely in-house: recorded, mixed, and mastered in "Skinny Joe's Roof" Studio, and featuring a beautiful cover by Michael van Merwyk. "This way we can ensure that the finished product exactly matches our expectations," says Michael van Merwyk - and he's right! Musically, this band can't be pigeonholed. "American Roots" is the musical title of this versatile band, which combines various elements such as blues, jazz, soul, funk, and even rock music in self-composed songs. "In our musical development, I see this band more in the category of 'collective singer/songwriters,' since we work on the songs together. Our origins in blues music are always palpable, although as Europeans we always draw on different musical styles. This is part of our identity," says singer and guitarist Michael van Merwyk.
The international judges' reasoning for the band's positive assessment in Memphis in 2013 was, among other things, the originality of their original compositions. Continuous standing ovations from the audience at the IBC finals also underscored the lyrical qualities of the songs. The band's musical performance and their engaging, audience-focused entertainment were also praised. Anyone who has ever seen this band live will understand what they meant.
