Since 1984, Michael van Merwyk has enjoyed international success with numerous projects such as "MvM & Bluesoul," "Dozzler & Merwyk," "Garner & Merwyk," and many other blues legends. In 2011, he and Bluesoul took first place at the German Blues Challenge. This was followed in 2013 by becoming the first European band to take second place at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, USA, where the quartet prevailed with their distinctive Euro Style among a field of 124 acts from 16 countries. This year, van Merwyk was again honored to be invited to Memphis by the expert jury. In 2016, the jury and audience voted him Germany's best blues singer and best blues guitarist at the German Blues Awards.
Now his preliminary best of album is available as a Smart Record. The Smart Record is a completely new form of music album that combines the analog and digital worlds. Packaged in an elaborately designed XXL booklet printed on high-quality paper, the Smart Record contains, in addition to the song lyrics, interesting biographical information about the musician, a multitude of unpublished photos, and a download code for the music.
Also included are links to the artist pages on the two largest streaming services, Spotify and Apple Music, which can be easily scanned and accessed as QR codes. A new way to enjoy music without sacrificing the tangible experience.
