Founded in 2003, Ni Ju San – a punk rock band from Wermelskirchen in the beautiful Bergisches Land region – rose to regional punk status with their first two self-produced albums. In 2005, the two self-produced albums were re-released, and by 2008, two more studio albums had followed, a live & unplugged album, and a live album, which was also released as a live DVD.
Even though Ni Ju San call themselves a punk rock band, the band traditionally emphasizes the word “rock” in capital letters, as the whole thing only has a marginal connection to punk in the narrower sense.
While the band's political leanings are clearly left-wing, which is clearly evident in some of their lyrics, Ni Ju San also often address both small and large (inter)personal issues. In short, it's all about God and the world, mostly in German. In 2012, Ni Ju San released a five-track EP and, after nearly 5 concerts, practically completely retired from live performances.
After a mere eight years, Ni Ju San now delivers the soundtrack to their resurrection with their album Gloria – the first sign of life after such a long radio silence could hardly be more fitting.
