The Pils und Kippe project officially launched in 2018, although the band has actually been around for a while: Achim and Marco, drummer and guitarist, who shared a living space and, above all, a passion for making music during their studies in 1995. Their first band, Crossthoughtz, enjoyed some success, but it was limited. If rock-reggae-ska crossover with humor and creativity had been currency, they would have been financially secure back then. But the breakthrough was slow to come, and ultimately, they transitioned from rocker life to professional and family life.
Back at their roots, the two of them again, friendship, memories, and the rehearsal room remained. They visited it regularly, thus laying the foundation for their current project. Marco was slowly beginning to embrace German lyrics, partly because, to be honest, his English was primarily covered by artistic freedom. Above all, however, it was about conveying content with the help of handcrafted music, beyond the trivial and with the intention of setting thoughts in motion. Thus, the idea of a songwriting duo developed: Marco on guitar and vocals, Achim on cajon and percussion, and a beer and cigarette.
No sooner said than done. Since then, the duo has been presenting their instrumental blend of socially critical, amusing, and affective lyrics at all sorts of musical festivals. And because demand for recordings grew louder, they began work on their first album, "Am Ende des Tages," a year and a half ago. With excellent support from Marco Bussi and Bino Dola in the studio, the result is a record they are particularly proud of.
