With their new album "Not systemrelevant," the Berlin-based music satire duo Plückhahn & Vogel cover a wide range of topics. From the vanished Berlin Wall to the idiocy of virtual space, the spectrum extends to the increasingly numerous places where the zeitgeist is exposed. The coronavirus crisis has just as much of a place here as climate change, the spreading egomania, and the unfortunate bark beetle (biodiversity notwithstanding) as a collective enemy. With one small exception, all the songs on this album were written by singer Dietrich Plückhahn. With his distinctive voice and Daniel Vogel's virtuoso piano playing, this CD is a highlight for all fans of sophisticated satirical songs. The drums (Andi Bühler) used on some songs and cleverly placed arrangements further contribute to an extremely varied and always stylistically accurate soundscape.
