The songs that Erlangen guitarist, singer, and songwriter Peter "Point" Gruner constantly whips up are truly joyful: catchy melodies that never sound smooth, harmonies rooted in blues and jazz, diverse grooves between rhythm and blues, rock 'n' roll, and folk rock, lyrics that speak with desperate optimism and subtle wit about the demands of everyday life, the depths of love, the insanity of human existence, and the boundless hunger for life. Music you can dance to, dream away to, and incorporate into your life.
Point & Die Spielverderber present their fourth album, "Seltsame Odyssee." Eleven new songs, ranging from laconicism to combativeness, revolve in a variety of variations around a central theme: the art of failing with style. And yes, it's actually fun! "Seltsame Odyssee" was recorded in the spring of 2018 in Johannes Ehrl's studio in Pinzberg, Upper Franconia, and mixed by Philipp Schäfer. In addition to the regular lineup of Point (vocals, guitar, harmonica), Johannes Ehrl (Hammond organ/electric piano), Bernie Sauer (bass), and Tim Kalenbach (drums), guests include Katja Heinrich (tenor and soprano saxophone) and Gaby Gruner (choral vocals).
The cover motif was created by Nuremberg musician and painter Uli Tsitsos, and the artwork was designed by Bert Birnfeld.

"Point and the spoilsports give us an idea of how much more valuable a Dylan could be without his mysanthropic grumbling, a Springsteen without the ridiculousness of his pathos, or a Van Morrison without Caesar's madness. Personally, this does me enormous good and, at least for a while, puts things where they belong." (Tom Liwa)

"What a wonderful way of using language: accurate, beautifully rhymed, atmospheric, funny, at times bizarre, and—like few others—with his very own style. I'm a fan of Peter Point!" (Dota Kehr)

"I really like Point's songs. The lively melodies, the witty rhymes—they have charm and bite. The love of the everyday, the frustration with unreasonable demands, the longing for something truly great—it's catchy and touches the heart." (Helmut Haberkamm)
