"The old pot baker," Bernd Niehenke, continues the dual sound processing of his ancestors at Hüggel: by day, the cool clay is dug up and processed, and by night, hot music is made. After extended stays in Texas and Mexico, grandpa's accordion was dusted off; the squeezebox practically played waltzes and polkas by itself. Spanish lyrics about dangerous women and lovable horses resonated with the rural lifestyle in the Teutoburg Forest and are now interpreted in Low German. Together with a great band, Tex-Mex music is brought back to Europe and thoroughly grounded. Blues and boogie from the swamps of Louisiana and the high-lonesome sound of the Appalachians are added.
