Behind Rock and Roll Junkie is Dr. Achim Heinze, who has made a name for himself primarily in the world of extreme sports – as a two-time ultramarathon world champion and successful author ("From Zero to a Thousand," "Performance Factor Sport"). In fact, he's been on the road as a Rock and Roll Junkie with his black Gibson Les Paul for much longer than he ever has been on a racing bike: For over 30 years, he's been playing up and down the country in various rock bands. Now he's decided to capture the songs he's tried and tested live on CD.
Following their 2017 debut album "Wasted Youth," a sleazy concept album that accompanied the release of a book of the same name ("Wasted Youth: How the Eighties Really Were"), all signs are now pointing toward rock and roll! "Down to Zero" features 14 hard-rocking tracks: The spectrum ranges from the trashy "Dealer" to punk-infused songs like "Never Like You," the Aerosmith-esque "Shiver and Shake," and the reggae-rocker "Walk the Earth Alone."
"King DJ" – as the title suggests – takes aim at the DJ scene; the double act of Johann Sebastian Bach's "Ave Maria" and "False Religion" addresses current religious issues. "Should I suck or should I blow" also satirizes political correctness in rock and roll. "Going round" and the mid-tempo ballad "All I want is you" are also two potential single releases. Highlights on "Down to Zero" include the lead guitar contributions of his co-guitarist Kiki and Junkie's unmistakably unique blues harp playing.
All styles of hard rock and roll are presented in a variety of styles, with every piece on this rock album getting straight to the point! The 12-page booklet contains all the lyrics, numerous pictures, and a commentary on each song by the composer.
