On their album "Ein neuer Morgen," the Kassel-based band "Rocktail" presents a spicy mix of soul and funk with rock undertones. Bass, drums, and congas provide a pleasantly driving rhythm. The German lyrics, all penned by band founder and guitarist Toby Hartmann, are about a new beginning after a difficult time. Deaths in the immediate family, the coronavirus blues, or war. Sometimes everything is frustrating. And yet, a new morning always dawns, and with that day comes the chance to leave the evil behind.
Of course, dealing with grief or fears about the future is essential. But the focus is on feelings like relief and a renewed zest for life. Titles like "And I'm alive," "It would be a miracle," and "I'm so happy" testify to this. With their 12 tracks on the recording, "Rocktail" demonstrate confidence, offer hope, and inspire courage.
