On the first solo album of her 25-year music career, which stretches from school bands to songwriting with Udo Lindenberg, she sings with her warm, raspy voice about politically incorrect love, the wisdom of teenagers fighting their parents' subservience to capitalism, the everyday life of single parenthood, and the peril of survival. It's guitar music crafted by women with a flair of hip hop and reggae, with lyrics so lovingly and precisely written that you can't help but laugh and nod along with every line.
