Art arises from magical relationships. From exchange and friction. Hamburg-based musicians Meike Schrader and Agata Paulina Clasen are each other's anchor and driving force. With their band SCHWESTER, they will release their debut album, "Der Himmel fällt," in autumn 2022. German-language indie folk pop, recorded together with producer Gregor Henning as artistic accomplice at Studio Nord in Bremen. Captivating and elbow-treading, harmonious and urgent, rich in detail and in love with sound. Two artists on equal terms. Clearly feminist and willing to present themselves as openly as possible. Meike Schrader plays piano and keyboards, Agata Paulina Clasen guitar. Both sing with great truthfulness.
SCHWESTER explores all the loving and harsh, the poetic and the political, the unsaid and the omnipresent that make up our lives. "Paulina brings an incredible amount of movement to the artistic process," says Meike Schrader. "And Meike, in turn, creates a framework; she sorts the confetti," explains Agata Paulina Clasen. SCHWESTER is like an inspiring identity that both mutually invent. Together, they are driven by immense curiosity. And by a fundamental trust in one another. Even if it can sometimes be painful to try to penetrate things the way SCHWESTER does.
Being vulnerable and resilient, setting boundaries and losing one's footing, grounding oneself and reaching for the sky, finding balance and embracing difference – SCHWEISTER touches on extremely contemporary themes. Not in a self-help format, but in a language that immediately touches the soul. Two women, two biographies, two temperaments. A dynamic that is far more than the sum of its parts. As if a completely unique character were developing. A force. A companion. A sister.
