For almost twelve years, Berlin singer-songwriter Sebastian Block has been capturing the capital's inner turmoil in his cabaret. In poetic verses set to catchy melodies ranging from danceable pop to cozy acoustic sets, he moves unerringly through the bars and streets of this diverse city. With a loving eye for the details and minutiae, the unsaid and easily overheard, he acts like a loudspeaker for the unheard – Berlin's secret establishment. Beyond cold calculation and capitalist competition, Block's music whispers directly and honestly into one's soul.
The ten new tracks don't lack the familiar playfulness and melodic quality that characterize Sebastian Block's work. His third album reveals another Block with a fresh perspective and new lyrical and musical depth. The harmonious arrangements fluctuate between synthesizer pop and classic Wurlitzer sound, upbeat and ballad, floating lightness and melancholy. From the danceable "Why Don't You Call?" to the spacey, spherical sounds of "My Will," a weightless flight through space, to "Evelyn," featuring arguably the most congenial beatbox in the world. Sung, breathed, panted, and hissed in a duet with Kater Gomez. The joy of working with his producer Oded K.dar is clearly audible in the songs and inevitably captivates the listener.
