A small, sleepy town in an American provincial wilderness. The local bar spews smoke from every porous crack in its facade – the heat hits you in the face, you take refuge in the bar on the corner and fall into a nighttime vortex – the figures seem apathetic, times distant. On stage sits "Sir" Oliver Mally, playing the blues that no one suspects, but everyone is looking for. "Sir" Oliver Mally is without question one of the representatives of "Europe's best blues" (Concerto). His raw, convention-free music is a pure extract of the blues' essence. Inhaling it blasts like absinthe for life. His albums have received rave reviews internationally. The "country's best blues singer" (Samir H. Köck, "Die Presse") is constantly on tour anyway – between Hamburg and Budapest, Graz and Waidhofen an der Thaya, but also occasionally at the Himalayan Blues Festival in Nepal. “Amadeus” nominations and thirteen category trophies in the critics’ poll of the magazine “Concerto” don’t really have room in the luggage, but his instrument is indispensable.
"He still plays his guitar himself, he sings with passion, heart and soul, he feels himself," summarized the "Oberösterreichische Nachrichten". Oliver Mally is a "bluesesque" genius personified. Hubert Hofherr, born in Lower Bavaria, discovered his love for Chicago blues at a very early age. Alongside his music studies, he played in his first bands at an early age and released several recordings. After emigrating to the USA, he was soon touring the USA with well-known blues musicians such as Buster Benton, JW Williams, and Merle Perkins, where he founded his own band before returning to Germany. Hubert Hofherr tours both at home and abroad with his band "Hubert Hofherr & The Bottom Line," founded in 1996, as well as with "The Ramblers," Albert C. Humphrey and the Roots of Blues, the Ron Evans Group, Hamburg blues singer and guitarist Abi Wallenstein, the Electric Blues Duo (Colin Hodgkinson and Frank Diez), and Mano Maniak. Finally, four years ago, the two finally met live.
A vibrant program consisting primarily of original compositions, peppered with exquisite covers, is presented. Goosebumps are guaranteed with some of the songs with a blue note.
