Heavy ska? Brass band? Hard ska punk? It's not easy to name the wild mix of musical genres that Skartoffel skillfully combine in their first official album, "Meer wollen wir gar nicht" (We Didn't Want to Go Sea). The seven guys from the rural Münsterland region create a unique combination of hard guitar riffs with fat horns: from rousing festival tent music to smooth reggae sounds – but always with a full-on punk broadside that makes the walls shake. In the German lyrics, they talk about the summer, chat about life itself (with and without alcohol), and, of course, also address the all-too-familiar sorrows of love – Skartoffel simply turns every topic into a danceable experience. This ensures plenty of variety, humor, and action on and off stage, inspiring even the grumpiest grump to skank and pogo.
