TBM3 - Ain't From This Neighborhood (12inch Vinyl-Album)
"TBM3 Ain't From This Neighborhood" references folk bard Townes Van Zandt not only in the album title. All 10 original compositions hover in the comfort zone between crunchy folk rock, moody singer-songwriter, and rootsy alt-country—the sound mix with which TBM3 has earned a notable reputation in the southern German live scene over the past few years.
Nevertheless, it sometimes rattles mightily: The opener, "Ten Thousand Miles," is reminiscent of both Queen and Led Zeppelin. One Vision meets Houses of The Holy. "Why not?" the stylistically confident listener might ask, as the subsequent, almost contemporary pop excursion into "City of Rain" might briefly make their skip finger twitch. But then, in the overall view of "TBM3 Ain't From This Neighborhood" (best on vinyl!), one thing in particular sticks in your mind: a carpet of smoke, harmonicas, mandolins, pedal steel, three-part vocals, and scratchy guitars of all kinds. The kind of carpet of sound that really makes the room cozy.
As the successor to the 00s anti-folk heroes "Munich Street Preachers," TBM3 has been on the road in this lineup since 2022. Markus Faltermeier and brothers Andreas and Michael Bauer recorded their debut EP "Gatehouse Sessions" at London's Abbey Road Studios.
For "Ain't From This Neighborhood," the band headed to Spain in 2024. Between a small club tour and a company outing to see Bruce Springsteen, TBM3 recorded most of the tracks for "Ain't From This Neighborhood" at the vintage Sol de Sants studio in Barcelona. The rest was recorded in Munich and Regensburg. Americana, designed in Bavaria.
