Every time you listen to Tidemore's music, you embark on a journey. And you never know exactly where it will lead. With just two guitars and their voices, Berlin-based brothers Andreas and Matthias Pietsch create a magnificent acoustic pop that's extraordinary, deeply moving, yet at the same time intimate and resonant.
Their lineup may be simple, but their multifaceted sound is astonishing. With limited resources, the two create sophisticated arrangements that demonstrate their unique musical flair and demonstrate a tremendous range. The Tidemore brothers play their acoustic guitars like a rock band. With harmonic sensitivity, they layer their often polyphonic vocals, ranging from warm tones to falsetto. Their first album, "Not My World," was released in 2011 on Timezone Records and gave a first taste of the talent and skill these two possess.
The new album "By The Sea" takes production technology a major step forward and boasts a better sound. For the first time, there are also German-language songs and piano sounds. Lyrically, they remain true to themselves and, with a special kind of poetry – sometimes abstract and analytical – they offer insight into their experience of modern life and a possible outlook on how to deal with its diverse tensions. These perfectly matched brothers have to be experienced live with their enchanting songs; they require neither a band nor grand effects or gestures. Modest in their appearance, they impress with their ability to create a poignant atmosphere and touch their audience deeply. Melancholy resonates in everything Tidemore have to offer, from elegiac longing to powerful passion.
