Various Artists - 6122 (2CD)
In recent years, the music world has lost some of its greatest stars. David Bowie, Prince, and many more left us far too soon, and May 26, 2022, joins that list for millions of electronic music fans. On this day, Andrew Fletcher, founding member of the British band Depeche Mode, embarked on his final journey at the age of 60. Those loyal fans, especially those for decades, seem to have been trapped in shared grief and shock for months. Many are legitimately asking what will happen to the band, and they share their grief with the remaining band members Martin Gore and Dave Gahan, his friends, and especially with his wife Grainne and their children Megan and Joe.
A number of international artists have now come together under the direction of Daniel Gierke (The Brute) for a musical farewell and thanks to Andrew "Fletch" Fletcher for over 40 years of musical history, recording a compilation of Depeche Mode songs. The idea isn't new. The difference lies in the top-class lineup!
Gareth Jones, the producer of three Depeche Mode albums and hits like "People Are People," is there, as is Bernhard Lloyd of Alphaville, who wrote global synth-pop anthems like "Big In Japan" and "Forever Young" in the 80s. Also on board are Bon Harris of Nitzer Ebb, Polly Scattergood, Carlos Peron, co-founder of the Swiss band Yello, Watershed from South Africa, who rose to global fame with their 2002 smash hit "Indigo Girl," Markus Reinhardt, formerly of Wolfsheim, Nico Wieditz of And One, The Brute themselves, and the award-winning duo Northern Kind from Great Britain.
The entire project has a charitable purpose. 50% of the profits will be donated to a music therapy foundation for children in Great Britain and to the German Childhood Cancer Foundation, an official partner of the project.
The goal was to bring together diverse artists from different decades, musical companions and friends of "Fletch," as well as well-known artists and promising new bands influenced by the sound of Depeche Mode. From rock, electronic, alternative, crossover to pop, everything is represented. 29 acts from the UK, the USA, Germany, France, Belgium, Australia, Sweden, Italy, Hungary, South Africa, and Switzerland say "See You" in style.
The compilation, entitled “6122”, the year of Andrew Fletcher’s birth and death, will be released on November 25.11.2022, XNUMX, as a Christmas present for all fans worldwide.
