Strawberry Songs by Volkwin Müller & Friends is a passionate tribute to the musical legend John Lennon. This isn't just another tribute album. Rather, Volkwin has delved deeply into the songs of the legendary Liverpool native, stripping them down to their essence and reinterpreting them in surprising ways with the help of very special guests.
The recordings of the songs are so fragile and beautiful that questions about song selection, differences from the originals, and interpretive intentions hardly arise. Volkwin approaches the Lennon songs respectfully, but not submissively. His voice carries the lines gently and devotedly into the present, mostly carried only by acoustic guitars.
