When four friends have been making music together for almost 20 years, a live release is really overdue, right? Especially when they harmonize as well on stage as we do for whom. Their previous time as soccer teammates seems to have been formative, at least that's what the title of the now-released live EP suggests: Home Game. It couldn't have been more fitting, though, because the whole thing was recorded where Daniel Hohorst (vocals), Dennis Bokelmann (drums), Jörg Niedderer (bass/piano), and Torben Abt (guitar) first performed together in 2001: in their hometown of Schwanewede.
But the fans of the early days had to wait a full 10 years for this homecoming. A lot had happened in the meantime: two albums and two EPs had been released, well over 200 gigs had been played on tours across the country, as well as festival shows including Deichbrand and Area 4 Festival. Now it was high time for a return to the stage where it all began: the Schwanewede meeting place. That doesn't sound like a stadium show, and it's not meant to be. What you'll hear is honest, hand-crafted rock and pop music with outstanding German lyrics that are second to none. The magnificent atmosphere of the evening-long concert in the naturally sold-out first venue was captured absolutely authentically, and a 6-track EP was compiled from it with the highlights of the evening. From the euphoric openers ("Give Your Life" & "Don't Lose Yourself"), through the ballad block ("Man in Pyjamas" & "Love Us Still") and the dance and participation classic "Katharina," to the encore and the thematically absolutely topical single "Weltuntergang," this live recording takes us on a dynamic audio concert journey. It even includes a previously unreleased track, "Man in Pyjamas," which raises hopes for an upcoming third album.
